Multiple Large Projects of Wuhan Design on “the Belt and Road”
Changjiang Daily News (Reporter: Han Wei, Correspondent: Fang Zequn, Xu Haiqing, Ma Lan) On 8th, many Wuhan engineering design enterprises referred to a keyword, “the Belt and Road” on the Directors’ Forum of the 3rd Wuhan Design Biennale and thematic dialogue links of design enterprises. Wuhan design enterprises are taking positive actions on the “the Belt and Road” throughout more than 70 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa and involving in the design of many world level projects.
Niu Xinqiang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research, represented that the “the Belt and Road” strategy is closely related to engineering design, so countries and cities on the “the Belt and Road” need to achieve path connected and trade smooth through engineering design. Niu Xinqiang said, at present, Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research has carried out businesses converted from single exploration and design of water conservancy and hydropower previously to whole industry chain consultation services including preliminary planning, design and financing in many countries and areas along the “the Belt and Road”. Just last year, the first unit of Murum Hydropower Station in Malaysia designed by this Institute has been put into operation for electricity generation. In his view, overseas engineering projects often involve in the design of different industries such as water conservancy and hydropower, railway and highway, which requires Wuhan exploration and design enterprises join up in specialties and groups.
Wang Yuze, vice president of China Railway Siyuan Survey And Design Group Co., Ltd., also revealed that the Group has increased its overseas business expansion since this year and is positively docking Thailand high-speed rail projects in Southeast Asia; in India, South Asia, the Group has signed the feasibility research agreement of the high-speed rail from Delhi to Chennai with India high-speed rail companies and independently participated in the bidding of the feasibility research of three high-speed rails, namely Delhi to Mumbai, Delhi to Calcutta and Mumbai to Chennai; in Nordic market, currently Sweden Congress has thrown “olive branch”, inviting the Group for project assessment of Sweden high-speed rail in writing; in Africa, the Group successively won Nigeria coastal railway and Ogun State railway projects in recent year.
China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd. as the “main force of bridge design” also won the design of multiple large bridges along the “the Belt and Road”, including 5 bridges in Burma, Bangladesh Padma Bridge, China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, the world’s first bridge built on coral reefs, and Bridge over Bouregreg River in Morocco, the first cable-stayed bridge in Africa. CCCC Second Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. won Maputo Cross-sea Bridge, Mozambique, Africa and designed it according to Chinese norms.
